Welcome to the Barnet Carers website. We hope you find it useful. Like all websites, it is an ongoing project which we are changing and adding to all of the time in order to make sure that we continue to provide information and support to as many of Barnet’s estimated 40,000 unpaid carers as we can.

This guide is for people who have care and support needs, their carers, and people who are planning their future care needs.

We are the independent national champion for people who use health and social care services. We’re here to find out what matters to people, and help make sure their views shape the support they need.

If you look after a partner, relative or friend who is disabled or ill due to physical or mental health, you are a carer, even if you don’t think of yourself as one. Find out about the emotional, practical and financial support available to you.

You can get help and support if you're responsible for looking after someone who has a disability, is getting old or has become ill. This can range from practical help to make day-to-day life easier to benefits like Carer's Allowance.

Caring will affect us all at some point in our lives. We’ll be here for you when that happens. With your help, we can be there for the 6,000 people who start looking after someone each day.
