Most referrals to other specialists will require you seeing or speaking with a GP. However, there are a number of local services, listed below, that you are able to make self referrals to.

Maternity Services – Royal Free London NHS

We offer maternity care from several hospitals and community hubs. Our two main maternity hospitals are Barnet Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital. We also provide maternity services at Chase Farm Hospital, Edgware Community Hospital, Cheshunt Community Hospital, Finchley Memorial Hospital and a range of health centres, GP practices, children's centres and other community locations.

Let’s Talk IAPT is part of the government’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) initiative. Our service is comprised of: Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) – who are skilled at helping people find practical ways to manage their difficulties. Methods used include guided self-help, stress management skills, computerised cognitive behavioural therapy and psycho-education groups.

The CommUNITY Barnet Telephone Befriending Service provides Barnet residents, ages 18-55 with support, comfort, and connection to the community.

Sexual Health Services – NHS Central and North West London

Free and confidential sexual health services. Walk in appointments are subject to availability and there may be a longer wait if the clinic is busy. We’ll see you as soon as we can. Please arrive one hour before we close or you may not be seen.

Sexual Health London

SHL.UK is a discreet sexual health service for Londoners. Our STI testing service is for people who have mild or no STI symptoms, and would like to get themselves checked. You can also request free regular and emergency contraception (effective up to 5 days after unprotected sex) by completing a simple, secure online consultation.

Find a psychological therapies service in England

You can refer yourself directly to a psychological therapies service (IAPT) without seeing your GP. These services offer therapies, such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), for common problems including: stress, anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and phobias

NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme

The Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme (NHS DPP) identifies those at diabetes high risk and refers them onto a behaviour change programme.
